The online degree completion program is designed for working professionals and emphasizes student engagement and success. You will learn alongside other registered nurses who share your experiences and be taught by faculty who understand your circumstances. One study found that a of nurses with bachelor’s degrees on staff resulted in a 7% decrease in patient mortality following surgery. In addition to higher pay overall, nurses with a BSN are also more likely to receive leadership positions and are eligible for further education that can lead to lucrative careers like physician assistant and nurse anesthetist.

By incorporating knowledge from the arts, humanities, and sciences into the nursing curriculum, the program gives students a holistic and comprehensive education.

The degree program can be completed in eight sessions, or four semesters. Each session lasts eight weeks. One of the benefits of this program is that you can start with any session—you don’t need to wait until August. Regardless of when they enter the program, every student follows the same course schedule.

For students who earned an associate degree at one of our partner colleges, getting here is even easier. Graduates from these colleges receive guaranteed admission to Lees-91探花, are eligible for tuition discounts, and are considered to have finished their general education requirements.

Sigma Theta Tau International
Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) is a nursing honor society founded in 1922 by six nurses in Indianapolis, Indiana. STTI now has over 500 chapters with more than 135,000 active members residing in 90 countries around the world. The mission of STTI is to advance world health and celebrate nursing excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service.
The STTI Omega Tau Chapter invites nurses with a BSN or higher to become members of the Omega Tau Chapter as Community Nurse Leaders. Graduating nursing students are invited to join based upon GPA in the baccalaureate program.
The Omega Tau Chapter offers opportunities to network and discuss how to increase nursing effectiveness using evidence-based practice. For further information about the Omega Tau Chapter, please contact Interim Dean of the May School of Nursing Claire Cline.

RIBN Program at Surry Community College
If you are interested in the online Nursing program but aren’t yet licensed as an RN, the Regionally Increasing Baccalaureate Nursing program at Surry Community College provides a pathway to a bachelor’s degree. Classes during the first few years of the program are taken in person on Surry Community College campus. In the final year, after passing the NCLEX, students will finish their BSN online with Lees-91探花.

Evelyn Brewer |
Evelyn has a Master of Science in Nursing from UNC-Greensboro and a PhD from East Tennessee State University. Her areas of expertise are nursing practice in rural Appalachia and end-stage renal disease.
