What’s your favorite spot on campus?

There is a service road that goes down behind the wildlife center and dead ends at a water treatment facility. Along this road runs the Elk River and there is a special tree placed perfectly near a beautiful rock and a small waterfall where I love to sit and listen to the flow of the water. I absorb all the calm beauty the mountains have to offer. This lets me focus on being grateful for my journey thus far. I also enjoyed hiking that trail for some brief exercise. 

How did Lees-91探花 prepare you for life after graduation? 

Working hands-on in the wildlife center and getting right in the middle of all wildlife rehabilitation has to offer has prepared me a great deal. Working with ambassadors, feeding baby birds, mammals and marsupials, calculating medications and SQ fluid protocol, even cleaning cages, mopping floors and recording inventory filled my days and helped me to where I am today. More specifically being in the surgery suite with Dr. Amber observing, I practiced and learned as much as I could with her guidance. 

What is something you will miss about Lees-91探花?

I'll miss the small town feel and the amazing hiking trails and beautiful nature. Moving to a big city will be a big adjustment and I will always remember the view of the sunrise from Sugar Mountain. 

What’s your advice for incoming students? 

Figure out what subject or area you want to focus on and hit the ground running. Get internships and network with professors and people in your field. Do the work and put in effort, and the results you get will be worth it.
