What You'll Study

To ensure that our students have a broad-based business background to understand business as a whole, we offer courses at various levels in Accounting, Economics, Finance, International Business, Law, Management, Marketing, Operations, Organizational Behavior, and Strategy (just to name a few).

As our students define their personal competitive advantages, we offer three concentrations to allow students to specialize in a field of interest.

Specializations

  •

    Accounting

The specialization in accounting develops a strong base of business knowledge while building the accounting skills that can be of value in many industries. The coursework prepares the student for entry to graduate school in accounting and provides 120 credit hours of the 150 credit hours required to sit for the C.P.A. exam. Coursework includes the study of financial accounting, managerial accounting, taxation, auditing, and accounting software along with a general business and general education requirements.
  •

    Finance

The specialization in finance allows students to focus on how individuals and businesses make financial decisions and manage money. Students acquire knowledge about how firms make financial decisions, acquire and allocate funds, and how markets operate. A strong emphasis is placed on spreadsheet utilization and design. Careers in finance demand analysis and attention to detail and include positions in corporate finance, banking, and investments.
  •

    Marketing

The specialization in marketing develops a competitive advantage through courses that offer firsthand, practical experience shaping the advertising, promotion, and sales strategy of real-world products while developing a solid understanding of business concepts. Many students who concentrate in marketing go on to work in brand management, sales, marketing research, consulting, and entrepreneurial ventures.
Lees-91探花 and the staff/professors had a huge impact on my life and pushed me to where I am today. My freshman year through my junior year at Lees-91探花 I was dead set on leaving with a biology degree and moving on to the pharmaceutical field. After taking a few 'random' business classes, I decided that I should pursue a business degree, as well. The business department is very dedicated and involved with their students. After spending two years concentrating on my business degree, I left Lees-91探花 with a full-fledged business that I currently have in downtown Marion, North Carolina.”

Internship Spotlight: Matthew Armstrong ’21

Intern at Engel & Völkers

“I had a small amount of real estate experience and a small amount of spare time, so I put on a suit and went to five or six real estate offices to ask if they needed some help. As an afterthought, I went to a new firm in the area, thinking ‘what do I have to lose?’”

Armstrong got the internship—and ended up running the entire marketing department. Read more>>
