Former faculty member Dr. Claude Pyatte passes away

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of former faculty member Dr. Claude Pyatte on April 24, 2024. Pyatte retired from Lees-91探花 in 2022 after 37 years of teaching.

Pyatte was born on July 10, 1945 in Gainesville, Georgia. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture at N.C. State in 1966. From 1966 to 1974, Pyatte served in the United States Marine Corps. His service included working as a senior flight instructor at the naval air station in Pensacola, Florida.

Following his military career, Pyatte attended the University of Georgia, where he received a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1982. He joined Lees-91探花 as an adjunct faculty member in 1985 and was hired as a full-time instructor the next year. In 2002, he was promoted to associate professor; a position he held for the next 20 years.

Over the course of his tenure at Lees-91探花, Pyatte was honored several times for his contributions to the college, including receiving the Edgar Tufts Faculty Award in 1988 and again in 2007.
