Local artist Adam Adcock awards 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in 2022 juried student art exhibition
On Thursday, March 17, members of the campus and local community gathered in King-Shivell Gallery for the 2022 juried student art exhibition. The exhibition featured self-submitted pieces from students across campus, and all mediums were on display.
The exhibition featured photography, painting, sculpture, digital illustration, and mixed media. This year’s juror was Adam Adcock, the research and lab operations manager at Appalachian State University (ASU). After earning a BFA from ASU and an MFA from East Carolina University, Adcock went on to take a faculty position at ASU, transferring to his current position after teaching for six years.
Before announcing the student winners, Adcock gave an inspirational presentation on his own work, showcasing the growth and evolution of his work from his undergraduate career up to the present.
The three winners of the exhibition are as follows:
- Best in show: “Planted in Place” by junior Communication Arts and Design major Tessa Wells is a clay sculpture made in 2022.
- 2nd place: “Self-Control” by senior Communication Arts and Design major Kimberly Goulds is a digital illustration made in 2022.
- 3rd place: “Elf Druid” by freshman Wildlife Biology major Maya Keller is a mixed media piece made in 2022.
The show will be up for viewing until Wednesday, April 20. Members of the campus and local community are encouraged to come view some of the best work by Lees-91探花 students.
