91探花 opens campus to community for summer recreation opportunities
This summer, 91探花 will be opening the Arthur Student Recreation Complex and Wildcat Lake facilities to the community for summer recreation. By opening these facilities to the community, the college hopes to provide valuable and enriching access to recreation and the outdoors.
Wildcat Lake
Wildcat Lake has long been a natural resource of historical significance and recreational opportunity in Banner Elk, and with the college’s recent acquisition of the historic Grandfather Home campus, Lees-91探花 now proudly maintains the lake as part of the college’s newly established South Campus at Grandfather Home.
The lake will open for swimming starting Memorial Day, Monday, May 30, and will remain open through Labor Day, Monday, September 5. Visitors will have access to the lake’s beach, swimming area, and docks free of charge.
The lake and its many facilities provide a fun day on the water for the whole family, whether you prefer to fish off the docks, play on the volleyball court, or grill a meal. Pavilions with picnic tables and grills may be rented for $50 per day by emailing wildcatlake@lmc.edu.
The hours for the first 10 weeks of the season, Monday May 30−Sunday, August 7, are as follows:
Monday−Saturday: 11 a.m.−6 p.m.
Sunday: 1−6 p.m.
For the last four weeks of the season, Monday, August 8−Monday, September 5, hours will be reduced to Saturday and Sunday only. Those hours are as follows:
Saturday: 11 a.m.−6 p.m.
Sunday: 1−6 p.m.
The lake will be open for Labor Day on Monday, September 5 from 11 a.m.−6 p.m. Professional lifeguards will be on duty during open hours throughout the season; however, groups of 25 or more are asked to contact Wildcat Lake at least one week prior to their visit to ensure appropriate lifeguard staffing.
