Help name the new Lees-91探花 drift boat!

It’s time to welcome the newest member of the Lees-91探花 family.

The college recently purchased a drift boat, a type of watercraft frequently used for river fly-fishing. Adding this versatile vessel to the Lees-91探花 fleet will create ample opportunities for new types of experiential learning, fundraising, adventuring, and more.

“This drift boat is a pretty cool shared opportunity between Outdoor Programs, Outdoor Recreation Management, and the Office of the President,” Associate Professor and Program Coordinator of Outdoor Recreation Management Katie Wall said. “It can be used for trips with outdoor programming and can be a great way for the president to fundraise or make unique connections with trustees.”

According to Wall, Outdoor Recreation Management is also in the process of building an advanced fly-fishing course that hopes to be open for enrollment by Spring 2023. The new drift boat will allow students to build new skills and expand the scope of their outdoor recreation education.

This is where you come in! Lees-91探花 needs the help of our students to give this exciting new drift boat an equally special name. Submit name ideas through this  until April 22. Once submissions close, the best ideas will be selected and put to the campus community for a vote. The submission with the most votes by the end of the next week (April 29) will become the drift boat’s official name. Once it has been formally christened, the boat will be ready to embark on its first adventure!

“It’s going to be a great opportunity for our college to grow and provide some fun experiences for our students inside and outside the classroom,” Wall said.
