Climbing’s greatest stories and stars will appear at 15th annual REEL ROCK Film Tour screening
The 15th annual REEL ROCK Film Tour, one of climbing’s greatest celebrations, returns this fall to Lees-91探花 with a screening on Thursday, Nov. 4 at Tate-Evans Park in Banner Elk.
Doors will open at 6 p.m. with the film screening at 7 p.m. The event is open to the public with tickets $17 for community members. Admission for all Lees-91探花 students, faculty, and staff is $5. Seats are general admission and attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets. Tickets are available .
Hosted and sponsored by the Lees-91探花 Climbing Team, the film is divided into six different mini-films, each highlighting incredible athletes in the sport. The films include Janja Garnbret: The Perfect Season, Born Among Boulders, Black Ice, Action Directe, First Ascent/Last Ascent, and Deep Roots.
In Janja Garnbret: The Perfect Season, viewers travel to Slovenia to learn about Garnbret, a young champion aiming to make history by sweeping an entire season of bouldering World Cups.
Born Among Boulders is an action-packed look at Swiss bouldering phenom Giuliano Cameroni and his six-year saga on one of the world’s hardest and more revered programs.
Viewers get a look at winter climbing adventures in the mountains in Black Ice and in Action Directe, they will learn more about French powerhouse Melissa Le Neve as she prepares to scale the most revered spot on Earth.
First Ascent/Last Ascent follows best friends Hazel Findlay and Maddy Cope as they journey to the outer reaches of Mongolia to search for new routes.
Finally, Deep Roots explores Lonnie Kauk’s personal journey to honor his indigenous Yosemite roots and connect with his legendary father by repeating his iconic climbs.
