Take a new seat
If you thought something looked different in the Williams Gymnasium, you would be right.
Since mid-December, crews have worked to install the gym’s new bleachers on both sides of the court.
The bleachers were installed by Liberty, North Carolina-based company, Learning Environments Inc., the same company that built and installed the previous seats almost 40 years ago.
The seating can hold a total of 766 individuals, and features a section of seats with backrests.
In addition to improved safety, accessibility and comfort, the bleachers also offer a clever optical illusion–just stand near center court facing the audience. Strategically-placed blocks of forest green amid grey spell out “LM”.
Details big or small, Vice President of Athletics, Craig McPhail said the improvements will enhance the experience of visitors for years to come.
“This really gives us a venue to be proud of,” McPhail said. “With the floor being redone several years ago, the new LED lights installed this year and new banners, we are making this a great home court for our Bobcat student-athletes.”
