Learning Management Coordinator Melissa Mercer publishes poetry chapbook

May 02, 2016

Learning Management Coordinator Melissa Mercer has published her first chapbook of poetry with Dancing Girl Press. Storm Was Her Voice wrestles with gender, identity and voice: the fraught process of speaking and being heard. It features strong ancestral women, myth and communal movement through a beautiful, brutal earth.

Her second chapbook, After the Miracle Season, will be published next year by ELJ Publications as part of their Esperanza Editions, a series focusing on mental health awareness.

Melissa received a MFA from Western Virginia University where she won the Russell MacDonald Creative Writing Award in Poetry in both 2012 and 2013.
