A Bike Ride with Buxton

October 14, 2016

Members of the campus community joined President Buxton Thursday, October 13 for a community bike ride.

The ride was part of an effort to promote both Lees-91探花 and the Town of Banner Elk as a “Bicycle Friendly Community”—a label presented by The League of American Bicyclists.

36 riders gathered in front of the Rock House to embark on a journey that took them from campus to nearby town of Newland by route on Hickory Nut Gap Road.

The road is a popular avenue for many cyclists because of its climbing, descending and scenic views.

Many riders, who were also members of the Lees-91探花 cycling team, wore their green and gold kits.

North Carolina is currently ranked 23 in the United States for Bicycle Friendly Communities, according to The League of American Bicyclists.
