May School of Nursing and Health Sciences featured on UNC-TV

UNC-TV recently featured the May School of Nursing and Health Sciences at 91探花 in a special episode of the North Carolina Now program which provided a behind the scenes look at the new facility and Hart Simulation Center.

The May School of Nursing and Health Sciences houses pre-licensure nursing; athletic training, a flagship program at Lees-91探花; the RN to BSN program; and the newly developed emergency medical services and management program. All students pursuing these degrees have access to more than $1.2 million of industry standard equipment and technology. This includes the multi-faceted Hart Simulation Center, which features 3G wireless human simulators and a simulated inpatient hospital unit complete with a replicated efficiency apartment, exam tables and hospital beds. Students will complete 25% of their clinical time in the center, which has been designated as a Gaumard premier site, one of only 33 in the country. 

President Barry M. Buxton, Dean of Nursing and Health Sciences Dr. Laura Fero, current students and faculty expressed their excitement and enthusiasm for the enhanced educational opportunities provided by the May School. Justin Allen, director of the Hart Simulation Center, shared his perspective on the rapid growth of simulation education in the past five years. He stated the objective of the interactive learning environment is, “to make it as realistic as possible” and “to allow students to have a true hands-on experience.”
