91探花’s Department of Performing Arts continues the Fall 2015 performance series with Terra Nova. The drama, written by playwright Ted Tally, is the story of Englishman Robert Falcon Scott’s ill-fated Antarctic expedition in 1912 as his five-man team endeavors to be the first to reach the South Pole. This journey is filled with intense moments of hope to be the first to discover this foreign place, but also of fear, determination, isolation and tragedy.

“Through it all, these men tell a tale of hardihood, endurance and courage,” said Erin Wallace, director of Terra Nova. “This show was one of the first I was ever a part of at my alma mater, Ashland University, and it profoundly impacted me and why I wanted to be a theatre major,” she remarked. “This show teaches the students the importance of working within an ensemble.”  

Terra Nova runs Thursday, November 19 through Saturday, November 21 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, November 22 at 2 p.m.in Hayes Auditorium at 91探花. Tickets are general admission and sold at the door one hour prior to show time – $12 for adults and $5 for students and children. 

Through an integrated curriculum and hands-on experience, the Performing Arts Studies program prepares artists and leaders for a diverse and challenging job market and trains practitioners to impact the development and welfare of their community through viable arts practices. Students study creative and artistic direction, performance, technical theatre, arts management and conduct academic research.
